Berry Good Morning Smoothie

 Matcha green tea is like a super green tea.  It lets you enjoy all of the benefits of green tea in a wider variety of ways.  I love green tea, but not everyone does.  This matcha green tea powder from KissMe Organics is a very fine powder that can be used in smoothies, baking, and gourmet meals. 

As far as antioxidants go, a glass of matcha green tea is equal to consuming 10 glasses of regular green tea!  CRAZY!!

I was excited to try this.  I have stopped drinking sodas and am always interested in healthy drinks other than water.  I like green tea already, so I wanted to see what the matcha green tea was like.

I tried one of KissMe Organic's recipes for the Berry Good Morning Smoothie.

Berry Good Morning Smoothie:

1/2 cup cold orange juice
1 tsp. matcha
2 tsp. warm water
1/3 cup chopped strawberries
1/3 cup blueberries
1/2 banana, sliced

Mix the matcha and warm water until it's blended.  It will be a bit thick, so the warmer water temperature will help blend it the best.

Add all of the ingredients to a blender with some ice and run it until it's the texture you desire.

You can add some more water or orange juice for a thinner smoothie.  (I added 1/2 cup water to mine.)

It was delicious!  I could definitely taste the green tea flavor, but mixed with the fruits, it was nice and refreshing without being overwhelming!

I will be trying just a regular glass of the matcha green tea, as well as, experimenting with a Shakeology blend.
