I love receiving my Birchbox each month!  You get to try new beauty products each month and then you can buy the full size products online if you love them.  Travel size products are great for me too since I'm on the road each day for work and we travel often.  They're great to throw in my bag or take on a trip!

You can sign up for a subscription yearly or by month, for $10 each month.  Every box comes with five items, mostly beauty and makeup, but sometimes they put in a lifestyle item as well.  They will also occasionally include coupons and last month there was a free magazine subscription.

This is what I received in my August box:
Each box comes with a card listing the items, how to use them, and what the price of the full size item is.

If you review products online, you get Birchbox points added to your account.  For every 100 points, you receive $10 to shop full size items online.  I have $30 to shop with right now! ;)

So what is it?

1.  Shakeology for Breakfast:

This delicious and protein-rich formula helps curb your hunger with more than 20 grams of wholesome plant-based protein, 22 essential vitamins and minerals, probiotics for digestive health, and a patented potato protein extract clinically tested to satisfy your appetite.  It tastes very similar to vanilla Shakeology and I didn’t mind it at all!

3. Fiber Sweep Drink:

Gently and naturally eliminates waste from your digestive system with its patent-pending blend of whole ground flax, chia, and psyllium seed husks.  I suggest mixing this with the coldest water you can and chugging it!  The flavor is not bad, but the mixture will thicken quickly.  If you’re someone who doesn’t do well with texture, just get it down as fast as you can.  I’m not going to lie, this was hard for me to get down.  BUT, it is only once a day, so three times total.

4.  Healthy and Delicious Recipes:

5. Water and Tea:

I knew this was not going to be easy for me to do, but I trusted the program.  I was not miserable or extremely hungry.  Sure, I missed certain foods, but nothing I couldn’t handle.  Plus, it was ONLY 3 days.  
I had enough energy to do moderate workouts and slept great each night.

I lost 5 pounds and 4 inches.


I feel more energized, the bloat is gone, and I feel like myself again!

Mason Jar Salads: Tips for Lunch On the Go

I am on the road all day Monday through Friday for work.  I travel to visit my accounts throughout North Florida and South Georgia.  It would be easy for me to get lunch at a fast food restaurant and snacks from gas stations to get me through the day.  Grab and go, in and out.  Do you know what else is easy for lunch on the go?

Salads in mason jars!

I use Sundays as my day to set myself up for a productive and successful week.  For meals, I grab whatever I need from the grocery store and I portion out and prep as many snacks and meals as I can.

I got some wide mouth mason jars at Wal Mart.  I'm sure you can find them at a bunch of other places too and they are reasonably priced.  I got more than I need for food prep so that I can use some in my office for organization too.

I made 5 salads for the week and it took less than 30 minutes.

I cooked up some corn and some chicken on the stove first since that is the part that takes the most time.  While that was cooking, I got out 5 mason jars and got the lids off of them.  I pulled out the other ingredients I would be adding to my salads and since I'm following the 21 Day Fix meal plan, I also got out my containers.

I have seen where you can place your salad dressing in the jar first, but I just keep it in my orange Fix container in my lunch pack.  If you wanted it all in one jar though, you would put your dressing at the bottom and then your most dense veggies on top so that the salad stays fresh in your fridge all week.  Make sure you save your salad greens for last, I use spinach but you can use arugula, romaine, etc.

My mason jar salad with ingredients listed in the order they were added to the jar:

  • Corn (1 Yellow)
  • Almonds (1/2 Blue)
  • Chicken, cooked and cut up (1 Red)
  • Feta Cheese (1/2 Blue)
  • Spinach (1 Green)
  • Salad dressing, in separate container (1 Orange)
There are a ton of different options to make different salads!  Some other things I've added before:  steak instead of chicken, shredded cheese, black beans, sesame sticks, shredded carrots, tomatoes, eggs...

The combinations and varieties of salads you can prep are endless!

In less than 30 minutes, I have 5 salads ready to grab and go for lunch on the road. In the mornings, I'll get out my lunch bag and an ice pack, grab a salad and a dressing container, a fork and large tupperwear container to mix it all up in, waters, and my snacks for the day.  With that and my Shakeology, I'm out the door and on my way to a successful work day and staying on track with healthy eating.
