How To: Arm Party!

How To Arm Party www.shannongillilan.blogspot.com

Do you know about Arm Parties?  I LOVE this trend!  It's all about stacking bracelets...so cute!

So, how do you make your own arm party?

I have some bracelets I wear pretty much every day.  Then I mix in others to go with my outfit for the day.  I have some gold and some silver bracelets too.  I typically wear one or the other, but once in a while I'll mix them together.

Some of my favorite brands:  Bourbon & Boweties, Kate Spade, Stella & Dot, Alex and Ani

I travel a lot and I also like to look for a bracelet to add in from different places I've visited.  Eventually you'll build stacks and it makes it even better if your bracelets can tell a story!

Show me your arm parties!!  Do you have any other brands I should check out?  I'd love to hear from you!

Sharing MY Story

My Story Beachbody Health Fitness www.shannongillilan.blogspot.com
I want to share a little bit with you all about why I started this health and fitness journey with you, in hopes that it relates to someone else and I can help them work on creating the best version of themselves.

A few months ago, I was working a retail job in a mall. I was working crazy hours and drinking coffee and soda and eating food from the food court almost daily. My body got to the point where it just couldn't take it anymore and I was feeling miserable ALL the time. Before taking the next step to see a doctor, I decided to make some changes on my own to see if it helped. I stopped drinking soda and coffees full of added ingredients and changed my diet to eating clean and healthy foods.  I also started a workout routine again.  Not spending hours in a gym, but just 30 minutes a day at home on my time. I noticed a change almost immediately!

I have never felt healthier and stronger than I do now...and I never went to see a doctor because now I don't need to. I figured out that if I put crap into my body, then I will feel like crap. It's just not worth it to me anymore. Sure, I'll have a cookie or some pizza every now and then...but not every day and in moderation. What's amazing though, is that I hardly ever want things like that anymore anyway because I feel so much better without it!

This isn't a diet. For me, it's a lifestyle change. I'm not trying to get skinnier or lose pounds. I have never had a problem with my weight and that's not what this is about for me. What I want for myself is to be healthy and strong.

Everyone has a different story and this is mine.

Do you want to make a change in your life?  Do you want to be happier?  Healthier?  Have more energy?  Budget your money better?  Make more time for YOU?  I can't promise you that it will be easy, but I CAN promise you that it will be worth it.  You just have to take that first step.

Stitch Fix!

Have you ever heard of Stitch Fix before?  It's a subscription service for clothing!!  You can set up your fix whenever you want, it doesn't have to be monthly.  You pay a $20 styling fee and they ship you five items to try out.  You keep what you love and send anything else back in the bag provided within three days.  The $20 styling few goes towards what you keep and there is a discount if you buy your entire Fix!

When you first sign up, you create your style profile.  So, you choose pictures of outfits you like the most, prices your comfortable with, and what types of pieces you would like to see.  I've chosen the moderate price range and am open to receiving any types of items in my shipment.  If you didn't want any dresses though, you could choose that, for example.

I got my fourth Fix yesterday and wanted to share what I got with you!

So much fun!  I love the surprise when my box arrives and these are unique pieces that everyone else is not going to have.  One of my first boxes had black and/or white everything.  I recently left a job that required I wear only black and white clothing, so I was totally covered in that department!  On my notes to the stylist I explained that to them and asked for color options.  I haven't gotten any black or whites pieces since!  You can also let them know if you have a special occasion coming up that you need something for.

4th of July Weekend: Orlando

Orlando Florida Fourth of July www.shannongillilan.blogspot.com

We spent the holiday weekend in Orlando at Walt Disney World's Dolphin Resort.  We wanted to have a relaxing weekend away and stay at a hotel with great amenities.  There are several restaurants to choose from, shops, pools, and entertainment.  The Swan and Boardwalk are right next door within walking distance.

After arriving Thursday night after work, we checked in and headed next door to the Swan Resort for dinner.  Il Mulino is a beautiful Italian restaurant.  Even though the service was disappointing, we really enjoyed the food.

On the 4th of July, I worked out with Shaun T in the hotel room and blended up a Shakeology drink and then got ready to head down to the pools.  The view from our room was beautiful!  We ate lunch at the Cabana Bar and waited out the afternoon rain looking through the shops between the two resorts.

Once the sun came back out, we spent the rest of the afternoon between all of the pools at the Dolphin.  Even though it was crowded, we were able to enjoy the sun and water and a nice afternoon!  I even got some personal development time in on the pool deck.

Later, we went over to the Mall at Millenia for a quick shopping trip.  This mall is dangerous! There are so many great shops.  Luckily, we had a dinner reservation so we were on a time limit.  We didn't do too much damage!

That evening, we had dinner at Bluezoo.  The menu is full of interesting food combinations.  I LOVED my meal!  I had seared scallops over a braised beef short rib with a cauliflower puree.  Even though it was an appetizer, it was the perfect size for me!

After dinner, we walked along Disney's Boardwalk and were able to watch both Epcot's and the Studio's 4th of July fireworks shows from the bridge.  They were beautiful and it was the perfect location!

We got a late night treat at the Fountain in our hotel.  A chocolate milkshake and a root beer float.  Yum!  It's okay to indulge once in a while and this was more than enough for me.  I couldn't even finish mine.

I did another Shaun T Focus T25 workout bright and early on Saturday with a Shakeo.  We got a quick breakfast at Picabu in the hotel; eggs and a coffee.  Some friends met us and we lounged at the pool for the rest of the afternoon before the rain hit again.

I have a difficult time shutting my brain down.  I'm always making lists in my head (and on paper) of things I need to do, ideas, projects, etc.  It is not easy to turn that off and just relax  To say I was in need of some down time would be an understatement!  We had massages scheduled for late afternoon with strawberries and champagne.  It was nice to have some time to just relax and my muscles definitely appreciated it!

Dinner Saturday night was at Shula's Steak House and it was incredible!  So much food though, we definitely could have shared.  Our steaks were cooked perfectly!  I think that was our favorite meal of the trip.

Sunday morning, my parents came up to Orlando to meet us for brunch at Keke's Breakfast Cafe.  We had to wait for a bit since it is so popular.  It was definitely worth the wait though!  I had a waffle with a cup of fresh fruit.  It was so nice to get to see my parents even if it was just for brunch.  I appreciate them so much, especially the fact that they will get up super early and make the drive to come spend some time together.  I am lucky to have them in my life and supporting any decisions or plans I make.

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July and enjoyed a little break.  Today was back to reality and preparing for a very busy work week!
