I had a gym membership and I very rarely used it. Every time I went, it was crowded. I had to wait for a treadmill or elliptical when I first got in. The weight machines weren't any better. I felt like I wasted so much time. I HATE not being productive! The hours also didn't always work for me. I have a crazy busy schedule with work and other activities. Sometimes late at night is the first bit of free time I have...and the gym isn't open.  It was something that just was not working for me but I kept my membership just in case the opportunity ever came up (and I didn't talk myself out of going). I don't even want to think about all of the money I wasted.

These days I have a more steady work schedule (thanks to leaving retail) and a workout routine that has gotten me back on track. I'm so much more comfortable popping in a DVD and working out in my living room. Guess what?! I can do that anytime I want; bright and early in the morning or super late at night. I'm on my own schedule.  When I'm ready to go, I don't have to wait for a piece of equipment. I will own these workout DVDs forever, so a small investment now makes sense.

After a long day on the road for work, I just want to get home. I don't want to come home, finish up my work, get changed for the gym, drive across town, workout, drive back across town, and then shower and FINALLY relax for the evening. I can come home, change into some workout clothes, even start a load of laundry, and get in a quick 30 minute workout. Done!  The celebrity trainers on the DVDs are so motivating! No need to pay big bucks for a personal trainer when you can have one in your living room at your convenience. Believe me, it's easy to come up with excuses to not push play. You have to be willing to shift your way of thinking for it to work. It's all about your mindset. I know I'll feel happier after a workout. I will be more productive and I will be proud of myself for staying committed. Whatever works for you, tell yourself that, when you lack motivation!

The Benefits of Shakeology: Clinically Proven

This is so exciting!  At Beachbody's Annual Coach Summit last week in Las Vegas, they announced some news about Shakeology.

Shakeology recently underwent an independent clinical study and it's benefits were proven!

I already knew this from my own experience drinking Shakeology since April of this year, but the results are pretty incredible.

50 individuals were tested over a 90 day period.  The only requirement of the study was for the participants to drink Shakeology twice a day; for breakfast and for lunch.  THAT'S IT.  No other changes in diet or exercise were made. 

The average individual lost 10 pounds and this weight loss was continuous over the trial period.  Cholesterol levels dropped an average of 7% and blood sugar dropped an average of 5%.

This is a BIG deal! All of these results were solely based on drinking Shakeology.

Savannah, Georgia: Highlights

Savannah, Georgia is full of history, beautiful scenery, and plenty of unique shops and restaurants.  It's one of my favorite places to visit!  I love to explore and find new spots around the town each time I go. 

I just wanted to post some highlights from our trip last weekend to celebrate a birthday!

Lulu's Chocolate Bar:  Chocolate covered strawberries were waiting for us when we got to our room.  They were amazing and definitely lived up to the hype!  Lulu's has been voted the best desserts in Savannah since 2008.


Old Savannah Trolley:  Savannah is a town best explored on foot.  I opted for an all-day on and off trolley tour with almost 20 stops to make sure we could fit all of the best spots into our one full day.  It was so convenient and it was full of historical information.

The Pirate's House:   We had a great lunch at The Pirate's House, one of the oldest buildings in Georgia and where Robert Louis Stevenson wrote part of Treasure Island.  The seafood was delicious!  I loved the colors on the outside of the building and thought it was a great place to snap some pictures.

Belford's:  City Market is full of shops, restaurants, and bars.  It is a must see in Savannah.  We shopped at a few boutiques before eating dinner on the patio at Belford's.  The weather was perfect (we just avoided the rain) and I loved the lobster ravioli which was voted Best Entree by Southern Living Magazine at the 2006 Taste of Savannah.  I might have also had a bite of the white chocolate bread pudding they brought out for the Birthday Boy.

Ghosts and Gravestones:  Whether you believe in a ghosts or not, it is still a unique activity to add to your trip.  The stories and the history alone are interesting enough!  We rode on a trolley and made a few stops at some "haunted" spots.

Broughton Street:  The best shopping is definitely on Broughton Street which features local boutiques and higher-end national chains.  Some of my favorites:  Kate Spade, Free People, The Paris Market, Lucy Lu's, Sylvester & Co.  I also had some of the best iced coffee from Sylvester & Co., a fair trade and organic Dreamy Coffee.  It's blended with chocolate and was the perfect shopping fuel!

How to Focus on Your Fitness While on Vacation

The past weekend was all about a special someone's birthday...complete with a surprise trip to Savannah, Georgia.  I'll post more about the trip later!


Here are a few ways I stayed focused on my fitness goals while we were traveling:

1. I brought my portable DVD player and my 21 Day Fix DVDs. I prefer my portable DVD player over my laptop because of the size. I would also rather leave my laptop at home so I'm less tempted to use it to work. It's all about balance.  I packed my Beachbody Mini Mat and one set of weights.  Each morning I got up at least 30 minutes earlier to workout.  I'm NOT a morning person, but I knew that was the only way to be sure I would have time to get a workout in!

2. I made sure I had my Shakeology every day, just the way I like it. You can just mix up Shakeology with water in a shaker cup, but I prefer it blended with ice. I have a single serving blender I brought along to make sure I could enjoy my Shakeology after my workout. I also brought a couple of disposable plastic cups and straws instead of using my Shakeology cup so I would be able to take it with me while we walked around Savannah.

3. I brought bottled waters and some Fix approved snacks from home so that I had some healthy options throughout the day without having to scramble to try and find something while sightseeing.  Even with a small purse there are a lot of options to have on-the-go like unsalted nuts and multi-grain crackers.

So maybe I had an extra bag of things to haul up to the room, but I was able to stay on track even while enjoying a weekend out of town.  Totally worth it!  It's something that is now a priority to me. I feel so much better when I am working out and I was able to refuel and have energy for the rest of the day!

You don't have to be perfect each day.  Believe me, I ate a lot of AMAZING southern food while we were gone.  Just don't use a vacation as an excuse to completely fall off track.  If you are eating "happy meals" all weekend and not working out, that's where things start to go south.

Welcome!

Welcome to my new fashion and fitness blog, Fashionable, Fit, & Fabulous!

I have always loved fashion and I recently started my own fitness and wellness journey.  I have been following blogs for years and it finally felt like the right time and right way to share my journey with others. 

I am still figuring out Blogger and I'm working on setting up a Facebook page.  Once everything is set, I'll start posting!
